Submission Process
- Review the entire proposal submission process.
- Take note of the Timeline of Important Dates.
- Start your online proposal submission. You can save and access your proposal via your account dashboard (i.e., "Save & Continue Later". See video for support.)
- Review your proposal and ensure information is accurate, complete, and free of errors (e.g., spelling, grammar, punctuation).
- Submit your proposal. Once you submit your proposal, no corrections or changes can be made.
Considerations
- The intent of our conference is to foster the mission of the organization and bring mathematics educators together. All sessions should be designed from a professional learning perspective and align with US Math Recovery's mission of transforming numeracy education, connecting research and practice, and empowering educators to advance student mathematical thinking and success through Math Recovery principles.
- The proposal should prioritize interactive and engaging formats and aim to foster engagement with and among participants with a range of limited to extensive Math Recovery exposure.
- The annual conference also has keynote speakers as well as featured speakers. If you are interested in submitting information for a keynote speaker and/or featured speaker please contact conferenceinfo@mathrecovery.org prior to submitting.

Conference Registration
Lead and co-speaker are required to register for the conference and pay any associated fees. (Early registration and member discounts are available. If accepted, Lead speaker (only) will receive $100 conference registration discount.)
Audiovisual Equipment
Speakers are responsible for computer, adapters, and other AV equipment required (USMRC will provide a screen, LCD projector, and speaker/sound). Ensure your computer can connect to a VGA cable. Wireless internet will be available through the conference site but with the uncertainty of WIFI, it is recommended all presentation materials (including videos) are downloaded and available locally on your computer or an external drive.
Handouts/Materials
Speakers are strongly encouraged to provide handouts to be available online through the USMRC conference app for conference attendees. Printed handouts are optional and the sole responsibility of the speaker to reproduce and provide. (NOTE: Session materials used must be cited with permission obtained, where required.) Presentation materials (except chart paper and marker) are the responsibility of the presenter.
Biographical Profile
Speakers are responsible for providing a short biographical profile and photo to be uploaded to the conference app.
Consider the format and length (1- or 2-hour sessions) that might fit your desired presentation. Note: Your session may be scheduled to be presented twice during the conference event.
1. Panel: Presenters gather for a moderated panel discussion with time for table discussions to allow interaction between the audience and presenters. Panel members should represent diversity in thought and experience.
2. Interactive: Participants work together while engaging with the content being presented. The emphasis is on facilitated collaborations, hands-on activities, and real-world problem-solving.
3. Networking: Participants share and exchange thoughts, ideas, and opinions on topics or areas of focus.
4. Presentation: Information is shared with participants through lectures, videos, and table discussions.
5. Other: Please specify.
The target audience descriptions are designed to help speakers describe the content of their session and are best designed based on an attendee's experience and role.

Each proposal is blind-reviewed by US Math Recovery staff using the following criteria. (Note: Not all submitted proposals may be accepted for presentation)
Proposal Scoring Criteria
- The proposal aligns with Math Recovery (e.g., inquiry-based teaching, Guiding Principles, Core Beliefs, Key Elements, learning progressions) and addresses the USMRC mission.
- The proposal attends to the target audience, area of content focus, and topics.
- The proposal outlines a process that models the best in adult learning and participant engagement with clearly delineated session outcomes.
- The proposal addresses how Math Recovery supports or advances students, educators or schools/districts improvements.
Additional Selection Criteria
- When the selection committee is making final decisions from all submissions, the following additional considerations will be used:
- The total number of submissions for an area of focus or topics addressed
- The number of hours requested in a proposal
- Available space at conference location
- The location or composition of the presentation team
- Past USMRC conference presentations and session reviews
