The Board Development Committee, on behalf of the US Math Recovery® Board of Directors, is pleased to announce the 2019 Slate of Nominees was approved! Membership voted either yes or no on the entire slate in March of this year. We are excited to officially introduce you to the new & returning board members that were voted on:
2019 Approved Board Member Slate
Kristin Frang
Kristin has been in education for over 20 years. During that time, she has taught middle and high school mathematics. She currently works for a county resource center as a K-12 mathematics consultant to 11 public schools and various private and charter districts. As a consultant she provides professional learning to teachers of mathematics across all grade levels, in-district consulting services around systems, assessment and data, curriculum adoption and support, classroom instruction and develop and coach district math coaches and coach teams of teachers. She has also served as an editor of two columns in NCTM's Mathematics Teacher titled "Projects" (2003-2007) and "Classy Tips" (2000-2003), is a regular presenter at state and national conferences, served on a board of directors for the Michigan Mathematics and Science Centers and written and directed multiple state and federal grants totaling approximately 3.5 million dollars. Her Math Recovery® journey begin in 2012 and her certifications include Add+VantageMR® Course 1, Course 2 and Fractions as well as Math Recovery® Intervention Specialist, Math Recovery® Leader, Add+VantageMR® Champion and Fractions Champion.
Megan Kidwell
Megan is a Senior Mathematics Program Specialist with Mathematically Connected Communities (MC2) at New Mexico State University. She supports elementary math instruction and learning by working with teachers in small districts in New Mexico. She has been a Math Recovery®Intervention Specialist since 2005. She became a Math Recovery® Leader in 2006. She completed AVMR Champion, and SNAP Facilitator Trainings.
Megan received a B.F.A. in sculpture from Virginia Commonwealth University and an M.A. in Education from the University of New Mexico.
Jill Leier
Jill is an Elementary Math Curriculum Coordinator for West Fargo Public Schools. She works with teachers to develop curriculum for K-5 mathematics. She coaches teachers, and provides professional development for the district. She has been a Math Recovery® Intervention Specialist since 2014. She became a Math Recovery® Champion and Leader in 2015. She is currently providing training to elementary teachers within West Fargo in AVMR and MRIS. She has also taught primary and intermediate grades for over 25 years.
Jill received her B.A. from Minnesota State University and M.Ed. in Curriculum and Leadership from Minot State University.
Jeff Little
Jeff Little is Vice President of Solutions Operations with Thrivent, a Fortune 500, member-owned, not-for-profit, financial services organization. During his career at Thrivent, he has held positions in a variety of areas including product management, pricing, risk management, expense management, and strategic development. Jeff is an actuary and achieved his designation as Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) in 2001. He received his B.S. in Mathematics from Illinois State University. In his spare time, he enjoys being active outdoors, reading, and planning his family's next travel adventure. He lives with his wife Jennifer, his daughter Claire, his son Gabe, their three cats, and their one dog in Apple Valley, Minnesota.
Lesley Maxfield
Lesley Maxfield serves Spokane Public Schools as a District Elementary Math Coach. In addition to implementing Math Recovery® training, she provides collaborative mentoring and professional development support for elementary math coaches and interventionists. This year, she is offering PD for the district MRIS and Champion certified staff. Lesley also does intervention work supporting students at Title 1 schools.
