November 2015 Letter from the Board Chair
Dear Membership,
Simply put, best USMRC Conference to date! This was my fourth USMRC Conference, and I cannot remember one being so positively charged. The work that Carolyn, Lisa, Cindy, Christina, Vicki, Mike, Molly, Jennifer, Dale, and the rest of the staff put into the 2015 USMRC Conference should make all of us proud.
Having the founders, Dr. Bob Wright, Ann Stafford Dillon, and James Martland there throughout the conference certainly added to the excitement. Dr. Wright presented at pre-conference, was a keynote, and held several sessions. Ann's, Twenty Years of "Ah Ha" Moments was a perfect precursor to her receiving the Pioneer Award. Jim's sessions, Analyzing and Solving Difficulties in Math Recovery® Teaching Situations, were packed and we had to turn people away.
Our own Christina Miller had the audience actively engaged in discussing the activities, learning, and strategies occurring in a classroom as they relate to the Guiding Principles of Math Recovery®. This was on Day 3 and no one was tired of the learning they were receiving at our conference.
The numbers this year were higher than our last conference and swelled to over 160.
I stated at the conference and I'll do so again, the Board is very proud of Carolyn, her staff, and the effort they put in to create such a wonderfully, positive learning experience for our membership.
Best,
Fred
