Math Recovery

The 2025 US Math Recovery Conference, themed "Inspiring Minds, Shaping Tomorrow," is set to take place from May 6-8, 2025, in Falls Church, Virginia. The conference is proud to announce its two distinguished keynote speakers: Deborah Peart Crayton and Dr. Jessica Hunt.

Deborah Peart Crayton

Deborah Peart Crayton is the founder and CEO of My Mathematical Mind. As an elementary educator for over 30 years, she is a respected voice on topics related to math identity, math content, instructional practices, and the connections between literacy and mathematics. Crayton is a trained AVMR (Assessing Vocabulary, Measurement, and Regression) educator and a strong advocate for leveraging research to transform numeracy education. She is dedicated to supporting educators in developing innovative teaching strategies that foster curious, problem-solving students. Crayton believes that all children deserve joyful math experiences and the opportunity to become competent readers, writers, and mathers.

Dr. Jessica Hunt

Jessica Hunt, Associate Professor of Teacher Education and Learning Sciences at North Carolina State University, is another highly anticipated keynote speaker. Her research focuses on re-conceptualizing research and instructional practice by combining approaches from both mathematics education and special education. Hunt's work aims to support students with disabilities in building mathematics proficiency, addressing educational disparities caused by opportunity gaps and remedial instruction. She designs and tests asset-based learning environments and interventions, such as game-enhanced curricula, to understand, support, and extend the processes of student learning.

The 2025 US Math Recovery Conference provides a platform for educators to come together and explore innovative strategies for improving numeracy education. In addition to our two keynote speakers, the conference will also have eight featured speakers throughout the 3-day event. With the participation of renowned experts like Deborah Peart Crayton and Jessica Hunt, the conference promises to inspire and shape the future of mathematics learning.
